Good morning everyone
Honored Dignitaries, Esteemed Parents, Respected Teachers, Ladies and Gentlemen and girls and boys:
I offer a warm welcome to each one of you. As we reflect on another successful academic year at Little Rock, we are reminded of the unwavering dedication, innovation, inspirational leadership and team work which are the characteristics of our School. With a long-standing tradition of excellence in academics, character development and holistic growth, this year has been no exception. Our commitment to nurturing each student’s potential, empowering educators and fostering a strong, inclusive community remains at the forefront of everything we do.
This report highlights our achievements, initiatives and the milestones we have reached, highlighting the values and vision that continue to propel us forward.
Ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys, I invite you to join me in celebrating our collective achievements.
As we unfold another year of Little Rock, let us bow our heads in reverence and gratitude to our beloved founders Late Dr C T Abraham and Late Mrs Alice Abraham for the glorious legacy they left behind.
AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS
IIRF Ranking,
Little Rock Indian School is ranked No. 7 among the Schools of India by the IIRF (Indian Institutional Ranking Framework) 2024.
IIRF has ranked the schools based on an array of parameters – their consistent 10+2 Board Exam performance, high academic credentials, management and faculty, pedagogy, extra-curricular activities, infrastructure, digital learning, sports education and facilities, social and community responsibility activities, student care, etc.
Little Rock happens to be the only rural school among the top 50 schools, which makes this an incredible achievement. Little Rock has consistently been among the top few schools in different surveys for the last many years.

Little Rock Indian School is awarded School with Best Infrastructure 2024 by NASA
Careers 360, a leading Education Magazine has rated Little Rock with “AAAA” grade for the academic year 2023-24 under Residential School Category.
STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF
We have 3738 students on roll now, of which 1866 are girls and 1872 are boys. We have 168 dedicated teachers and 99 non-teaching staff. We maintain a teacher-student ratio of 1:22, with a view to ensuring teacher’s personal attention to the children in their care.
CBSE EXAMS
We presented the 32nd batch of Class X students and the 30th batch of Class XII students in March 2024. Our students performed very well, as usual.

Scholarships and Concessions 2024-25
We have been offering scholarships and fee concessions to our students from financially handicapped families and to the children of our staff. This year’s details of such scholarships and concessions are as follows:
a. Fee Concessions continued to 39 students: 18,66,320/-
(50% fee waiver in most cases & 100% waiver a few)
b. Fee Concessions to children of lower income category staff
of the campus institutions: (53 students): 23,73,230/-
c. Waiver of Vehicle Maintenance Contribution and
Food charges to the children of faculty and staff: (82 students) 14,04,000/-
d. Endowed scholarships: Total endowed Sum: 31.72,407/-
Interest at 7% p.a. to be given away as scholarships: 2,22,068/-

Parent-Teacher Interface
We had our parent-teacher interaction during June and July in three sessions. As usual, we had three experts to address each gathering. Mr A G Kannan addressed parents of Classes IX to XII students, Dr. Supriya Hegde Aroor, addressed parents of Classes V to VIII students, and Dr Chetan Ginigeri addressed parents of Classes I to IV students.
As many as 2470 parents attended the three parents’ meetings. Let me appeal to the parents to maintain the same spirit in the years to come. Your participation in school activities send out a positive signal to children.
Library Facilities
We have four libraries, with a combined floor area of 8770 sq. ft., perhaps one of the largest school libraries in the country. Our four libraries have a combined stock of 49,556 books costing around ₹ 70,59,611/-. This year we added 720 books costing ₹ 2,10,000/- so far. We also subscribe to multiple copies of all major newspapers, magazines and journals. Library is an ever-inspiring place for the students and teachers of our School. Our alumni who are spread around the globe often testify the role our libraries have played in shaping their career and future.
Birthday Fund
Our Birthday Fund is a source of blessing to many people. It is our humble effort to mitigate the suffering of less fortunate fellow human beings through this fund. This year we have already given away Rs 11,72,160/- Our beneficiaries include : UNICEF, Manasa Jyothi Trust (R), Kundapur, Liza’s Home, Bangalore, Kidney Federation of India, Kerala, Indian Mouth and Foot Painting Artists, Mumbai, Leprosy Foundation of Inida, etc. We also make sure that the amount given from Birthday Fund reaches the right hands. The ultimate aim of such a practice is to make our children understand the joy of giving and the values of compassion and charity.
We also give free uniforms to children of four neighbouring schools. This year also we have given school uniforms to around 224 children costing Rs 1,18,760/-
IMPORTANT PROGRAMMES
We started our Academic Year with a weeklong Faculty Enrichment Programmes by experts in different fields in the last week of May.
Glimpse of the major events is listed below:
- Dr Sreeson Gopinath conducted a workshop on Handwriting on 23rd
- Dr Shailaja Shastri conducted workshop for our teachers on 24th June
- On 25th May Prof Mathew C. Ninan conducted an orientation programme for the teachers.
- Mr Praveen Vyas from Live Life conducted workshop and orientation programme for all our teachers from 27-29th May
- Sunney Tharappan of CLHRD conducted workshop for our teachers on Communicative English for three days from 30th May to 1st June
- On 3rd June Prof. Mathew C. Ninan conducted an awareness programme for the drivers and conductors.
- Founder’s Day was celebrated in all the Sections. Mr Sampreeth Mathew and Mrs Sneha Mathew addressed the gathering in different Sections.
- On Environment Day ( we had it on 15th of June), children actively participated in planting trees and other awareness programmes.
- We observed Yoga Day on 21st June with a lot of students exhibiting their talents in yoga.
- Several awareness and training programmes were arranged for students, like Career Guidance, Adolescence and Mental Health , Cyber Security, Empowering Adolescence, etc. by experts in the field.
- All National Days are solemnly celebrated.
- A special Teacher’s Day programme was organised on 31st August for the faculty of the campus institutions. Dr Ramkumar V. And Dr Vani Ramkumar, addressed the gathering on the occasion.
- Kannada Rajyostava was colourfully celebrated on 30th October. Mrs Savitri K and Mrs Shyamala Padre addressed the gathering on these occasions.
- A Special training programme for the drivers and conductors was conducted by Inspector Mr Santhosh Shetty on 20th September .
- Sports Day was celebrated on 14 & 15th November with Dr Vidya Kumari IAS, DC of Udupi and Mr Sunil Patrick as chief guest for Inauguration and Valedictory repectively.
- Different section organised several exhibition programmes like, Fruit Day, EVS Day, Share a Plant, Common Ehibition, Food Fest, Hindi Divas, Kala Sangam, Science Exhibition,m etc.
Notable Achievements of the Year
As you are aware, we give equal importance to co-curricular and extracurricular activities. Our students participate in Interschool, State level and National level Cultural, Literary and Sports competitions. Some of the notable achievements are given below:
- Thakshak Shetty and Skanda J Shetty of Class VIII won the first prize, in The Hindu Young World Quiz competition, held at Lourds Central School, Mangalore. They are also the Winners of U Genius 3.0 National Level General Awareness Quiz Competition 2024 held at Millennium Hall, Union Bank Mangalore. They also won the first prize in Rotary GK Quiz Competition held at MGM College, Udupi.
- Students of Classes XI and XII won the overall championship at the Chemergence, a Chemistry related fest held at St. Aloysius College, Mangalore.
- Reena Reddy Nagarur and Nitin B Nair of Class XII have secured 2nd place in the debate competition organised by the Dept. of Posts, Udupi Division in connection with Vigilance Awareness week.
- Janki D V of Class XII has secured first place in MES Kalavedi Festival 2024, held at Bangalore. She has also secured first place in the senior category in Jakathalaya 2024, Chennai. Janki has received Vridraani Award 2024 from Laasya Pvt. Ltd., Chennai. She has also performed at Gems Modern Academy, Dubai, Shivapranaam Festival, Pune, and Gudiya Sambrama Festival in Bengalore.
- Saanvi Rajesh of Class IX has earned the title ‘Naatya Mayuri’ through a competition conducted by Mrudanga Vision, Kochi by standing first in the competition. She has received cash award of Rs. 50,000/- in June 2024. She also has won a cash award of Rs. 30,000/- by standing third in ‘Varna Sparde’ conducted at Bangalore in July 2024.
- Drithi S Poojary of Class IX has received the Little Artist Award in August 2024For Chinnar Chitra Chittara 2023-24 conducted by Bannada Mane Samskritika Vedike, Gadag, Karnataka, Bala Vikas Academy, Dharwad and Bala Bhavan Society , Bangalore. She also received the Kalashri Award in November 2024 for the competition conducted by Women & Child Development Dept. Govt. of Karnataka and Bala Bhavan Society, Bangalore.
AICS (Association of ICSE and CBSE Schools) Competitions
- Our U-14 Boys, U-17 Boys and U-14 Girls are the winners and U-17 Girls Runners up of AICS Table Tennis Tournament which was held in our School.
- Our U-17 Boys were the winners and U-14 Boys were the Runners-up in AICS Football competition held at Green Valley Central School, Shirur.
- We are the winners of U-17 Boys Table Tennis Tournament held at Delhi Public School, Mangalore.
- Our U-14 Girls are the winners and U-17 Girls the Runners-up of AICS Kho- Kho Tournament held at Lourdes English Medium School.
- Our U-14 Girls and U-17 Girls are the winners of AICS Badminton Tournament held at Sri Siddhivinayaka School, Hattiangadi.
- We are the Runners-up of U-14 Girls AICS Basketball Tournament held at Sharada Residential School, Kunjibettu.
- We are the winners of U-14 Boys and Runners-up of U-17 Boys in AICS Athletics competition held at Alva’s Central School, Moodubidire, Dakshina Kannada.
- Our U-17 Girls are the winners and U-14 Girls are the Runners-up of AICS Athletics competition held at Alva’s Central School, Moodubidire, Dakshina Kannada.
- Our U-17 Boys and U-17 Girls are the Winners of AICS Handball Tournament held at Trinity Central School, Udupi.
- We won several prizes in CBSE Cluster competitions in athletics too:
- U-14 Boys category has won 1st place in Long Jump and 1st place in Relay (4X100 mtrs)
- U-19 Boys category has won 1st place in 200mtrs dash, 3rd place in Long Jump, 3rd place in 1,500mtrs race, 1st place in both 4X100mtrs and 4X400mtrs Relay.
- Our U-14 and U-19 Boys have also participated in CBSE National Athletic meet held at Sant Athulananda Convent School Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
Conclusion:
As we bring this report to a close, we take immense pride in the progress our school has made and the collective efforts that have shaped our journey. Our achievements, however, are not merely a reflection of academic excellence but a testament to the unity, resilience and shared vision of our students, staff and stake holders. Let us remain steadfast in our pursuit of excellence, embracing challenges and opportunities that will continue to enrich the learning environment for future generations.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each member of our Little Rock family: the School Managing Committee, especially the Director Prof. Mathew C. Ninan and the Deputy Director Mrs Lali Abraham Mathew who are our guiding spirit and inspiration. I also extend my gratitude to the Vice Principals, Head Teachers, Faculty, Staff, Students, Parents, Benefactors and Resource Persons for striving earnestly in taking Little Rock to greater heights.
